Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!!!!

Dennis has to work today since it isn't a holiday here, we are however getting together with all the Customs families and having Thanksgiving at someone's house. I believe there are going to be about 20 people there. Not sure how we are all going to fit into one house but it will work. I'm in charge of rolls and ice. Big projects here:) We are still awaiting our stuff so cooking is a bit difficult. We have very little here. Our car and air shipment is supposed to be here anytime but hasn't made it to the house yet. I'm also going to make a potato dish.

The weather is beautiful, probably around 80 degrees out.

Yesterday, Kaitlin and I went to the beach and also walked down to the resort that is next door to us and played on their playground. They have a big pool with a slide that Kaitlin really wants to go on. I think this is where my Mom is going to stay when she comes and visits. We also found lots of lizards (tiny) and went and looked at some fish in the water yesterday. Then last night I got together with 3 of the ladies that live in the complex and we chatted for 4 hours. Kaitlin was with me and played with Sienna (the other 3 year old) and Rebecca (she is 11) the entire time. The girls had a great time running around, playing hide and seek, tag, making a fort and drawing.

Pictures to come, we just need to download them to the computer~!

Happy Thanksgiving, hope you all have a wonderful day with your family and friends!!!

Thunder and Rain

Kaitlin and I just made it back in time from our walk with Zoe (the dog) on the beach and around the complex and the rain started pouring down like cats and dogs or maybe elephants and hippos along with the thunder. It is still warm out but raining.

The water on the beach today looked lighter in color more turquoise than yesterday and some clouds. Perhaps this is a sign of rain here.

Guess it is a good day to get some laundry done and put some stuff away.

Will also need to find some good recipes for Thanksgiving.

Have a good day!

We Made It!

We made it to the Bahamas late Saturday night.

It was a very long day with 3 flights. We got up at about 3am (Dennis and I went to bed about 1am) and made it to Sea-Tac about 4:30. Good thing we were there early since we had 3 animals, lots of luggage and Kaitlin. Checking in took a little longer than usual. Our first flight was pretty good. Kaitlin and I sat together and Dennis right behind us. Kaitlin slept for quite some time on route to Dallas as did Dennis. I was exhausted but could not sleep. The only time Kaitlin wasn't very good was when she had to put her seatbelt back on to land.

We had to rush in Dallas to catch our next flight to Miami but made it and were able to verify that the animals made it on board too. Everyone slept a little bit and we had a decent flight.

In Miami we grabbed a quick bite to eat and boarded our last flight to Freeport, Bahamas. This flight was bumpy but short.

We were greeted by the Port Director and moved right along through customs with our very own line that was created. I'm sure all the other passengers thought we were in trouble since we were with a uniformed officer. We got our bags and then moved on through again quickly without waiting in lines. Dropped off all the animal paperwork without any issues. We were driven to our new home and greeted by more people that Dennis will work with. One lady had two teenagers and they carried all our luggage up the stairs. Another guy brought over some groceries for us.

Sunday we went to the pool and the beach in the morning. Dennis also went to the airport to get all his badges so he wouldn't have any issues. One of the wifes took me grocery shopping which was interesting. $200 later we were out. Things are AT LEAST double the price if not more here. We learned that many people order laundry detergent, cat litter and other dry goods from Amazon or other online sites. Tide in a box was $33.00+ here. I purchased a 4 pack of toilet paper there and the gal asked how much it was because if it was $12.00 she would loan us some until ours got here. $12.00!!! Luckily the one I grabbed was only $3.50. We then went over to another house across the way from our condo that has another 3 year old. Kaitlin is going to love playing with her.

Today (Monday) I was able to get the Cable and Internet hooked up. People are on island time but it got hooked up so that is great, apparently it can take up to 2 weeks to get connected sometimes. Right now we are even watching King5 news on TV. Watching all the snow is crazy here. Dennis took Kaitlin swimming and then Kaitlin and I went to the beach to build sandcastles with our new friends Sienna (the 3 year old) and her Mom Alina.

Dennis will go to work tomorrow from 10am to 6pm.

The condo here is pretty nice. We have 3 bedrooms, 3 1/2 bathrooms. The first floor consists of a living room, dining room and kitchen. Our laundry is also here. We also have a patio deck on the first floor. The second floor has the master bedroom with deck and master bath with huge tub. It also has a second bedroom and a bathroom. The third bedroom has a huge room which Kaitlin is calling hers and another bathroom. Overall things are pretty nice. The condo also has a pool that is heated, tennis courts and right on the beach. The beach is beautiful with white sands. We haven't seen any yet but are told there are lots of stingray out there. There is a resort next door that looks nice. Some of the guys say they go over there and use the lazy river, pools, and kids playground. We may venture there as well.

Hope this finds everyone well and we will try and post on here as we can!
